Last week my wife was away in Fresno working on the crafty chica product line. All our world stops when she is away! She is home now and the house is happy again. While she was gone I made these shadow puppets. You’ll never guess the material. It is from cereal boxes! First you draw your design and cut it out with an extaco knife. You have to add wire to connect the joints and add a wire stick to hold them. I need better pictures but you can see the idea. I’m going to make more of these. i’m also going tomake a pupper
theater. Don’t look at me puppet!!!CLICK ON THE HEADLINE TO LEAVE ME A COMMENT

Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!
Cut out of cereal boxes, then what kind of paint did you use? Did they curl up on you when painted? How did you keep them flat?
I’m utterly fascinated by this project, THANK YOU for posting!

Hi, I’m an art teacher and with the economy the way it is, this idea is terrific. Do you have a pattern for your puppets. It would be great to let my students to have a starting point with a pattern and then they could make their own.
Fantastic project
awesome and original. painted all different colors would be even more awesome.
thanks! glad you like them! i used spray paint. i would suggest trying different thickness of cardboard, different types of boxes. you need one that is sturdy, yet easy to carve/cut. that way it will not curl when you spray paint.
i would use brads for connecting the arms and you will need sticks for the arms as well.
coming next -the theater i made.
also someone mentioned color, that would be neat for displaying on the wall.
i used black because it works best as a shadow puppet!
Great stuff!! Love the cardboard puppets. I will try this.
These are awsome! You two are such a great team
I should say you all are such a great team. The kiddos look to be pretty creative too.
